The Hand Formula

I have (finally) capitulated to pop.  For the last several weeks, I've thrown my hat in the ring at Song Fight!, where a congeries of artists and dabblers musically interpret a new phrase every week.  So far, I've reacted to:  A Problem of Perspective, All We Could See at the Window, Calico Alley, Cryptic Comment, In the Valley, Mediocre Savior, and Interesting Times, not necessarily in that order.  They're all archived here.  I've dubbed my (one-man) band The Hand Formula, after Judge Learned Hand's famous formula (B=PL), which proposes that a person is negligent if their investment in the avoidance of harm (B) is less than the product of the probability (P) and magnitude (L) of the harm that person caused.  Here's hoping I don't fail the test!  I've adopted my own rule as well - nothing but toy instruments.  Disclaimer: lyrics do not necessarily represent the beliefs of management.

Man Man Now Playing

File Under Quixotic

In an admirable fit of optimism, the Nixon Foundation has sponsored The New Nixon weblog, in the hopes of spreading the gospel of our late, great ex-president to those still unfamiliar with his charms.  While I would be hard-pressed to identify a single issue on which I agreed in substance with Mr. Milhous, nonetheless, I find him endlessly amusing.  Go figure.  In any case, the weblog is fascinating & highly recommended.

The Milhous Rag Redux

I was recently introduced to Muxtape, a website that makes it easy to upload "virtual" mp3 mixtapes.  It's a lot of fun & there are some great mixes, well worth browsing.  I added my own collection of campy political songs & clips, the Milhous Rag, named after the man everyone loves to hate.

Mark Frauenfelder of Boing Boing and the Silent Porn Star recently discovered the Turtle Club. Anyone from Fairbanks, Alaska knows the Turtle Club has the best prime rib and crab legs in town.  "RUAT - YBYSAIA".
