So, Thursday at noon I went home for lunch. But Carrie wanted to go out. And who am I to argue? We walked down to 4th Avenue, on our way to Orca Books, where Carrie has a book by Lorrie Moore waiting. And we ran into Jacob Sunday & Co. In full Sir Baden-Powell regalia. They were shooting a segment for their sketch-comedy group. Which I haven't seen perform yet, but fully intend to.
Anyway, the schtick was walking people across the street. And Carrie got conscripted.
She and Jacob made a nice promenade (in the sidewalk, of course! The Olympia police apparently ticket for jaywalking. Go figure.). I got snaps, and they got video. Carrie got the book and an Edward Gorey calendar at the bookstore. The calendar reflected her own interest in punctuality, and a corresponding interest in improving mine. Ouch!
Later that night we went to a very nice Italian-esque restaurant near the Port of Olympia called Mercato (Mercado? I forget.). Anyway, they had good wine in fancy glasses, excellent (if slightly pricey) food.
And the modern-art oil & vinegar I always like. Reminds me of that guy who did the caviar paintings...? Forget his name. He threw the jar of caviar on a canvas, like Serra did lead, then numbered each egg, like he was an astronomer. It was really lovely, and the rotting fish eggs under who knows what got a lovely rich yellow color...
