Monday, November 7, 2005: Old Skool Kool

Dcfc0006_7So, the Cine-X programs migrate to the Mark tonight.  Here, Lisa Owens, the owner of the Mark, explains to Carrie how we should run the concessions.  Many thanks to Lisa for keeping everything simple, and to Carrie for making sure everything went so smoothly!
Dcfc0010_6Bridget helped a lot with night one, too.  Here you see her with Alain.
Dcfc0012_6The first program was exceptionally well attended.  Probably because it included a racy (and very funny!) number by Kat (from the Reef) and Moira Morel (pictured) called Old School (after the pizza joint).  It's *koff* borderline porno, but one step removed.  And a lot of fun.  So no reason to get bent out of shape.  I mean, meta-porn is different from porn proper, right?  So long as the only bona-fide nasty business is in a movie a character is watching, well then it's in a documentary nature almost, right?  Well, kindof, at least.
Dcfc0013_9We were a bit thin on help at first.  But Carrie managed to conscript a godsend.  Namely Dan, pictured here, who managed to take care of just about everything we couldn't get to ourselves.  In retrospect, he didn't just make everything work.  He made it possible.
Dcfc0015_5Unfortunately, without a local artist, the second program had an audience problem.  So thank god for sharp, spirited youngsters like Emily (pictured) who just want to see the movies!  In the long run, they're the only audience I really care about anyway.  But after the show, we had to run...

Dcfc0016_2Marie
got in from Mexico City late tonight.  And Dan generously drove me up
to meet her at the airport.  She shipped the movies for her program in
advance, and her only luggage was the little brown suitcase you see in
the backseat.  I'm impressed!

Dcfc0018_1We got back to Olympia pretty quick, and went out for a bit.  Carrie (in the green jacket!) and Marie made fast friends.
